Dying Light: The Beast won't repeat Dying Light 2 mistake. Techland remembers for what fans loved this post-apocalyptic universe
Dying Light: The Beast is set to return to the series' roots. The head of the franchise admitted that, for the Techland studio, it is, in a sense, a full-fledged third installment of the series.

Summer Game Fest 2025 brought us a new trailer for Dying Light: The Beast, which includes the release date of this game. The head of the Techland studio brand, Tymon Smektala, also had the opportunity to speak more broadly about the upcoming title and the entire series in a conversation with PC Gamer.
According to Smektala, The Beast can be somewhat referred to as "Dying Light 3." The developer said that even though they're not introducing any groundbreaking features that you'd expect from a numbered release, it's still a solid AAA title.
Dying Light: The Beast also plans to return to the solutions from the first installment, which were omitted in Stay Human. This is how the developer wants to please the biggest fans, who have been criticizing the devs for losing the survival horror atmosphere in the sequel.
Dying Light 1 was a game for our core community. It was a hardcore survival horror, open world, action adventure with very strong survival aspects. For Dying Light 2, we forgot about it. The game was a commercial success, but the players who should be closest to our hearts said we kind of lost the edge, we lost the threat, we lost the horror, we lost the tension.
So, Dying Light: The Beast will somewhat return to its roots, which should please the biggest fans. The game will not only have the "lost" atmosphere, but also Kyle Crane, the main character from the 2015 hit.
Dying Light: The Beast will be released on August 22, 2025, on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
