The Helldivers once again face a formidable challenge. This time, they are to wipe out more than three and a half million Illuminate Leviathans from the surface of the galaxy - and that's only a drop in the ocean.
The Illuminate must be the most hated alien race in the entire galaxy at this point. Not only did they recently give the Helldivers their biggest challenge yet, but they're also exceptionally tedious to eliminate - a problem that Helldivers 2 has had for a good few months now. Boring as an opponent, but terrifying as the civilization's enemy. It's hard to imagine a more unfortunate combination.
The matter concerns the latest Major Order assigned to the Helldivers - they have to eliminate 3,750,000 Illuminate Leviathans, which sounds exceptionally time-consuming, monotonous and doesn't bode well for the mission's success.
These enemies are very unpleasant to fight and are known for literally wiping players off the face of the earth. Moreover, they are also rare - they appear around three times per mission and only on higher difficulties. This means players would have to finish 1,250,000 missions to successfully complete this task. One of the players even calculated how long it would take - in their opinion, the time needed to complete this order is 156 days.
The fact that the players were only given seven days also doesn't help. The sheer scale of the order is beyond what most fans could have imagined. A few of them find themselves caught up in the fight against these overwhelming units. They would prefer a slightly more relaxing, holiday type of mission instead:
Oh wow, I saw the other post and thought it was just Leviathans.
I guess we have a week and it's probably because they're on holiday but it still seems like a chore.
I'd much rather they give us a list of planets to reclaim and we could start tidying up the Galactic map.
Nope. I will face the wall. Whatever the Truth enforcers will do to me is gonna hurt less than that MO.
Fleshmobs is doable but LEVIATHAN's? The enemy that literally isn't meant to be killed? And THAT MANY?. And THAT MANY?
Yeah, I'd just wait for the next MO.
It seems that the leadership of Democracy should think about some holiday programs for their brave soldiers. They did hold Super Earth after all - they deserve a moment of respite. If morale collapses, even propaganda might not be enough - and that's probably something the authorities of Super Earth would not want.
