Some evidence indicates that Fallout 4 may get paid mods. This would be the game's biggest update since April 2024.
The Fallout TV show has achieved spectacular artistic and commercial success, but given the fact that Fallout 5 is still a song of the distant future, the company behind it, Bethesda Softworks, must look for alternative ways to monetize the growing popularity of one of its flagship franchises. One of them was the release of a next-gen patch for Fallout 4, which took place in April 2024. Unofficially, it is said that the next step will be the introduction of support for paid mods.
The source of these revelations is the JuiceHead channel on YouTube, which once accurately predicted the enrichment of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim game with a similar feature. In one of the published materials, the creator refers to "many sources" and argues that Creations known from Skyrim and Starfield will also be available in Fallout 4.
The proof to confirm these words is supposed to be the recent modifications introduced by Bethesda, as noted by SteamDB. Moreover, there are rumors about Bethesda testing new features for Fallout 4, and there might be changes in the "press build" as well.
Of course, Creations is not just about paid mods, but also free ones. The whole system is designed to make it easy for players to create and share mods, as well as browse, choose, and install them. When could we see mods for Fallout 4 there? Insider Gaming speculates that with the release of the Fallout series' 2nd Season, which is reportedly set to debut later this year.
