UPDATE:

Update 1.002.000 for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 also enables developer tools for debugging, allowing for "jumping" to specific stages of the game, running diagnostics, and enabling various modifications. Despite the warning from Insomniac Games, some players still decided to try out these functions, even though it could potentially damage their game saves.

Several missions not found in the base game were discovered using this method. They are related to Beetle, Tombstone's daughter known from the comics. Fans speculate that this is the content intended for the DLC.

Original news

The beginning of February saw a great deal of controversy surrounding the most recent update to Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The Insomniac Games studio was harassed by toxic "fans" (including threats of violence) through social media, demanding more frequent patches and new content. The devs calmly requested patience and shortly after announced a patch for March 7. Since they kept their word, from today we can enjoy new content - and there is quite a lot of it.

New Game+ in Marvel's Spider-Man 2

For many players, the most important new feature introduced by this update of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be the New Game+ mode. This highly anticipated novelty has finally been added to the game, and a PlayStation trophy is even available for it - now, upon completing the story again (in NG+), we will receive a collectible trophy. Furthermore, we can now get experience levels beyond the previous maximum of 60, known as Ultimate Levels. They will provide access to new costume styles and gadgets.

To play New Game+, you must first correctly update the game - which, as the developers pointed out, may turn out to be a bit complicated. Immediately after the first patch, you must download the next one. If we don't have access to NG+ for any reason, we should turn off the game and "Check for updates" in the console menu as we most likely only downloaded the first patch. Many players experienced this issue and were unable to access the new features. So, the developers had to explain the situation on X:

Replaying missions and changing the time of day

The update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 introduces several new features, with the most notable being the ability to replay missions, allowing us to freely revisit our favorite ones. The rest of new features also look promising, especially the one related to the "accessibility" of the game:

  1. we can change the time of day;
  2. we have the ability to manipulate the scale of characters in photo mode (we also get access to special stickers);
  3. we can get new costumes (inspired by the Hellfire saga).

Furthermore, several enhancements have been implemented to make the game significantly more accessible for players with disabilities. These include, among others, audio description, a special narrator reading the text on the screen, high contrast option and precise color adjustment, additional controller usage modes and many others - the list is impressive and you can familiarize yourself with it here.

On the occasion of the update, developers from Insomniac Games also released a trailer for the GOTY version of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which you can watch below.
