Ubisoft has Finally Fixed Might and Magic 10

It took Ubisoft nearly five months to fix a bug that made Might and Magic 10 unplayable, and the game is back in digital stores with a free bonus.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Unexpectedly, Ubisoft fixed Might and Magic 10: Legacy, which had been unplayable for nearly five months; the title has also returned to digital distribution;
  • Within a week of the problem surfacing, players managed to work around it by editing the game's files, but additional content still remained blocked;
  • As compensation, all players will receive a free DLC - The Falcon and the Unicorn.

In early June, Ubisoft shut down the servers responsible for DRM protection in Might and Magic 10: Legacy. This resulted in the game becoming completely unplayable after completing the first act of the adventure.

The issue caused quite a controversy, because the title remained on sale for over a month before Ubisoft decided to withdraw it from distribution (we wrote about it here). Additionally, the fact that the game is a single-player title but requires a connection to Ubisoft's servers even in offline mode added salt to injury.

Players quickly found a way to unlock the second act by simply editing game files, but they didn't restore full functionality to the game - the extra content and DLCs remained locked. Ubisoft did not restart the servers or fix the update issue. This caused negative reactions from frustrated players and resulted in many unfavorable reviews on Steam, among other things.

It took Ubisoft nearly five months to fix the problem. The game unexpectedly returned to digital stores, and the company published the following statement:

As compensation for the entire situation, all players will receive The Falcon and the Unicorn DLC for free.

The case is bizarre and is further proof that Ubisoft is in serious image trouble. One month of selling an unplayable title and nearly five months to fix a bug is really quite a lot, even in the case of an older (Might & Magic X: Legacy was released in 2014) and not very popular game. We recently wrote about the results of a survey of gamers who unequivocally point to Ubisoft as the most hated game publisher in the world.
