Mod Turns M&B Bannerlord Into an RTS

Age of Bannerlords is an upcoming modification that completely reinvents Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord, giving the game features of an RTS.

That Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord is almost like a sandbox for modders, has been known since long ago. To the plethora of projects that completely change the face of the game, we can also include Age of Bannerlords, which - as the name suggests - gives the medieval RPG features of an RTS.

Age of Bannerlords features

Saying that the modification changes "almost everything" is actually not far from the truth. As Bloc, the author of the modification, presented in his video, it introduces to the game:

  • More building options,
  • Dynamic marketplace,
  • New era to unlock,
  • Improved UI, thanks to which players can select units, queue tasks and have access to a panel containing information such as groups of workers,
  • AI faction development adapted to the mod,
  • Option to group fighting units and choose their attitude,
  • Improved enemy AI,
  • Option to control any unit.

The presentation of the aforementioned features can be found in the video below. As mentioned by Bloc, a longer gameplay footage will be released soon. If you like the mod, keep an eye on this channel.

Long Live Bloc, Long Live the Revolution!

This is not the first modification created by this user. Previously, he also developed a project, thanks to which it is possible to restore the village management system in the game, which was abandoned by TaleWorlds.

What connects both modifications is not only the amount of work that the creator put into their implementation, but also the incredibly warm reception by fans.

"Watching the modding community grow around Bannerlord really is on another level. I hope TaleWorlds will do something about it. Expect more fantastic stuff from Bloc. Let's light that fire of Revolution.

Long live Bloc, long live the Revolution," wrote Sword & Musket.

"I would buy this as a standalone game, if you guys could find a way to use the engine and make a game like this, I would definitely pay for it, and I know I'm not the only one," wrote Alberto Sara.

Bannerlord was not primarily conceived as an RTS, so it is no wonder that there are voices of players who do not necessarily like such a vision for the game. These, however, do not criticize the author, but appreciate his commitment to the project.

"Personally, this is not the way I would want to play Bannerlord but the brilliance of the developer behind this project certainly deserves recognition!," wrote Trajan84.

Age of Bannerlords is still being worked on by Bloc, but when the work is completed, we can expect an amazing modification, not far from being a standalone game. Currently we can only wait until the modder releases the announced gameplay, which will certainly give us a better picture of the mod.
