Monster Sanctuary is a game that combines several genres. However, there is no denying that it was largely created for fans of the Pokemon series.
After all, we are dealing here with a title, in which we will catch and train a ton of various creatures, and later fight numerous battles with their participation.
Like in Pokemon, at the beginning of the game we get the opportunity to choose our starter "pet". Here you will learn more about them.
Starting a game in Monster Sanctuary, you will be able to choose from four starter creatures. They belong to the Spectral Familiars group, and below you will find a list of them with a brief description.
As a matter of fact, all of the starter creatures have their strengths and weaknesses. Their proper use, in turn, depends on their proper composition with the rest of the team of three creatures.
Spectral Wolf and Spectral Lion, however, are great creatures in their own right. Both have well-balanced stats and powerful abilities. This means they are capable of influencing the outcome of a clash singlehandedly.
For novice players, Spectral Toad or Spectral Eagle may be a better choice. The former has healing abilities, while the latter has a resurrection ability.
Both skils can make the game much easier in the initial phase. This way you will limit your losses and have creatures that support the rest of the team very well.

In addition, Spectral Toad is a very tough creature that is not so easy to defeat. It also benefits from powerful attacks that hit several enemies at once. It is also the only of the Spectral Familiars to have 28 points in its stats to start (other creatures have 27 points).
So, if you don't know which creature to opt for, then. Spectral Toad is probably the best choice.
