New Faction in Dune: Spice Wars May be the Fremen
Shiro Games said that in a week or two it will reveal the next faction that will appear in Dune: Spice Wars. Officially, it is still unknown which faction it is, but there are speculations that it may be, the Fremen.
As announced, Dune: Spice Wars, an RTS with 4X elements set in the iconic sci-fi universe created by Frank Herbert, will offer a total of five factions (at the start of early access, scheduled for this year, four will be unlocked, the fifth will be added later). We already know two of them: Houses Atreides and Harkonnen. In a week or two we should get a presentation of the third one (via Reddit).
Which faction will it be? So far we don't know. In a post on Reddit a representative of Shiro Games strongly suggested that it will not be a single house. Players began to speculate.
Will the Fremen get into the game?
There are voices that it may be about the Space Guild, the organization having a monopoly on travel through the universe, or the Bene Gesserit, an order composed of women who have honed their physical and mental abilities to perfection. Also popular is the theory that the Fremen will be presented in the coming days, this faction being the free population that inhabits the planet Arrakis (also known as Dune).
The assumption that it will be them is based, among other things, on the statement of Sebastian Vidal, president of Shiro Games. In the context of Fremen he wrote such words on Reddit:
"They are indeed related to the villages we've seen in the previews and our stream a couple weeks back.
I cannot divulge any further information on their involvement in the game beyond that at this time though, make of that what you will..."
Anyway, we'll have to wait a few more days for a confirmation whether it will be the Fremen or some other faction. What's important, even if it's not them in this particular case, it's not impossible for them to appear as a playable faction. During an AMA session on Reddit, the creators of Dune: Spice Wars suggested that there will be more sides unrelated to the houses.
