New Patch for AC: Valhalla Affects Performance on PS5

Gamers report that Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is performing much worse on PlayStation 5 after they installed the latest patch 1.0.4 for the game.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Assassin's Creed: Valhalla runs worse on PS5 after installing patch 1.0.4;
  • Also on other platforms, many gamers report screen tearing.

Patch 1.0.4 for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, which was released two days ago, was intended to improve, among other things, the performance of the title on next-gen consoles. However, the players report that the patch broke more than it improved - at least on Sony's platform. The PlayStation 5 version, which so far has been running flawlessly, is starting to have problems with maintaining stable 60 fps after installation of the patch.

The test carried out by VG Tech shows that the new patch has been of particular benefit to Xbox Series S users, where the title has finally achieved 60 fps (in Performance mode) and 30 fps (in Quality mode). All the more surprising is the fact that on the much stronger PS5 Assassin's Creed: Valhalla recorded drops to as few as 53 fps (on Performance option), although until recently the game worked flawlessly on Sony's hardware. PlayStation 5 owners should wait before downloading update 1.0.4 until the problem is resolved.

The patch was also supposed to eliminate screen tearing on Xbox Series X and problems related to saving the game, but it's hard to say if it was successful - Internet users are ambiguous in this respect.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla was released on November 10, this year on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, as well as on PS5 on the day the console was released.
