First details about planned editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War have leaked to the web. It looks like Activision will also be selling a special, more expensive version of the game on consoles, with the option to download its port on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X after its release.

Call of Duty series has gotten us used to its numerous special and collector's editions over the years. This year, the situation will not look any different. First leaks concerning planned editions of the game have appeared on the web. We owe this information to the Call of Duty Tracker website. Unfortunately, the fans of the franchise, who are going to invest in next-gen consoles, may stumble upon an unpleasant surprise in this case.
Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War will have a total of three editions - Standard, Cross-gen and Ultimate. The first one will be available on all hardware platforms supported on the day of release (Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC). The Cross-gen version will be purchased exclusively on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and owners will also be able to download the game's port to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X (depending on the platform selected earlier) right after its release. This means that contrary to industry trends, Activision has decided to force the players to buy a next-gen game update.
The Ultimate edition will be available on all platforms, offering standard sets of extra skins and weapons and a Battle Pass. Additionally, in pre-orders, the players will have access to beta tests of the game, a new operator and weapons, as well as a ten-level 'boost' to profile rank in multiplayer games.
