Global PC Component Prices Are in For an Increase

This year we will pay even more for PC components. The reasons include customs and problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Asus was the first company to introduce price increases.

We have bad news for people who plan to buy new PC hardware. Everything indicates that this year such purchases will cost us a lot more.

Asus is the first company to introduce price increase. For now, they only apply to GPUs and motherboards, but it's likely that a similar fate will also be met by many other components. The company's technical marketing director, Juan Jose Guerrero, explained that this has been forced by rising prices of parts and increasing operating and logistical costs as well as customs.

Asus was first to increase prices, but other companies will probably do the same soon.

Asus also warned that the prices of other products could be raised soon. The reasons given for the increases are universal for the whole market, so it can be expected that other manufacturers will follow suit.

The coronavirus pandemic slowed down the production of components, and the resulting shortage of parts has led to problems with availability of many products, especially the latest GPUs. This situation is expected to continue for at least a few months.

These problems have now been compounded by tariffs resulting from the trade war between the US and China. GPUs have been temporarily excluded, but this convenience has expired a few days ago. As a result, prices should be expected to increase by about 80 dollars.
