Craig Mazin is a creator associated with top shows produced mainly for HBO. Among the titles for which he is responsible, we can mention Chernobyl and this year's The Last of Us. To his credit, he also has screenplays for such movies such as The Hangover Part III or The Huntsman: Winter's War. Now the reboot of Pirates of the Caribbean joins the list.

According to information from The LA Times, Craig Mazin confirmed that Disney is not giving up on the iconic series and has given the green light for filming of the next movie. The filmmaker revealed that this took place even before the strike of the screenwriters and actors.

"We proposed it [to Disney -ed. note] and we thought they wouldn't buy it, That the idea is too bizarre. And yet they did! And then Ted Elliot wrote a fantastic script, then a strike broke out and everything came to a standstill."

Rumors about the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean 6 had been circulating for many years. Until now, it was thought that Disney had pulled out of the project, although this was never explicitly announced. Meanwhile, the giant got into a dispute with Johnny Depp, the actor playing the role of Jack Sparrow, an icon of the series. Accusations made against Depp by his former partner Amber Heard turned out to be untrue, and Disney has officially apologized the actor.

In the meantime there was speculation that the aforementioned studio wanted to make a separate movie with Margot Robbie in the lead role. The project has, however, been delayed, although, as Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of Pirates of the Caribbean, belives "eventually this scenario will be presented", and the plans include "two different stories for Pirates".. He also admitted that Johnny Depp's participation in further movie in the series is possible.

For now, it is not known, what is behind the mysterious reboot, whose chief screenwriter has been named Craig Mazin. As you can see, concepts for the movie have been kept secret for several years. Although the information that the production will indeed be made, is groundbreaking, we will still have to wait for the details.
