Sony Poland Accidentally Reveals PlayStation Plus Video

Sony's Polish branch has accidentally revealed the company's new service. It's about PS Plus Video, a movie pass for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The Polish branch of Sony Interactive Entertainment has a "small" problem. The local version of the official PlayStation website featured an announcement of PlayStation Plus Video, a new movie service for users with an active PS Plus subscription. The announcement was quickly removed, but - as usual - that didn't prevent it from being captured on screenshots.

As it reads, the trial version of PS Plus Video will be available from April 22, 2021, which is before the announced closure of the ability to buy and rent movies and series from the PlayStation Store at the end of August. Sony decided to drop the option as a result of massive competition from Netflix, Disney Plus and other streaming services. It's unclear if the yet-to-be-announced PS Plus Video has anything to do with that decision.

The announcement mentions that the service will be part of PlayStation Plus, not a separate feature. Perhaps this is Sony's way of increasing the value of its subscription. It could even be linked to recent reports that SIE is preparing an answer to the market conquest of the Xbox Game Pass subscription. For now, we don't even know exactly what benefits PS Plus Video will bring. Nevertheless, we should not wait long for official information.
