Pokemon Masters With the Second Best Mobile Debut in History

The launch of Pokemon Masters was a great success. The app has been downloaded more than ten million times in four days. Only one mobile game can boast a better result.

The game had an impressive debut.

  4. Business model: free-to-play

DeNa Corp. has reasons to be satisfied. The company has just boasted that the mobile game Pokemon Masters has been downloaded more than ten million times in the first four days since its launch. The production debuted on August 29 on iOS and Android. On both of them it uses a free-to-plau model with optional microtransactions.

10 million downloads over four days is the second best result ever. For comparison, Pokemon GO needed ten days to reach this number, although it should be noted that initially the game was only available in a few countries, while Pokemon Masters made its world debut immediately.

The leader in this category is Super Mario Run, which in the same period was downloaded more than 40 million times.

The success of the game is not a surprise. The Pokemon franchise continues to enjoy great popularity, with Pokemon Masters receiving decent reviews. The game now has an average rating of 71% on Metacritic.

The reviewers praise the excellent visuals and interesting battle mechanics, which is based on three duos of pokemon and its trainer. The cooperation mode is also very impressive. The criticism is focused mainly on the simplified gameplay compared to the installments from mobile consoles. The title doesn't have much depth, so it's hard to say if it will keep the community interested for a long time.
