PUBG-related Battle Royale to Debut Next Year

It looks like another battle royale game set in PUBG universe is coming to consoles and PC next year. Before that, a new mobile title associated with the franchise is scheduled to be released.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Krafton Inc. - owner of Bluehole and PUBG Corporation - intends to create another battle royale title based on the PUBG universe;
  2. The game is expected to debut next year;
  3. We will also get another mobile battle royale game this year.

It seems that by the end of next year another battle royale game using the world known from Playerunknown's Battlegroundswill be released on the market. The title will be available on PC and consoles. The source of this news is information found on the profile of Kim Chang-han - president of South Korea's Krafton Inc. which owns Bluehole and PUBG Corporation (via PC Gamer).

It is worth noting that this will be the third work based on the universe of PUBG, because it is also supposed to used by the survival horror The Callisto Protocol created by Striking Distance (the company founded by Glen Schofield - former head of Visceral Games - is also owned by Krafton Inc.). However, in the case of The Callisto Protocol, the action will be set in the future (three hundred years from wno), so the connection with PUBG may be very vague.

For now, we know nothing about the mysterious battle royale game that's coming to PC and consoles, but it seems very likely that it will be some sort of sequel to PUBG. It's worth noting that earlier this year, Krafton Inc. plans to release another mobile title - also belonging to the battle royale genre.

Playerunknown's Battlegrounds appeared on PC in 2017, and a year later it received versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. PUBG Corporation's game has so far sold 70 million copies. It is worth noting that a mobile installment of the series, titled PUBG Mobile, was released in 2018.
