RDR on PC is Near-Perfect Port. Steam's 93% Rating Speaks Volumes; Price Remains Gamers’ Only Critique
PC gamers can breathe a sigh of relief. The PC port of Red Dead Redemption didn't disappoint and is the best release of the hit Rockstar Games studio.
Yesterday marked the Steam debut ofRed Dead Redemption, a classic Wild West action game from Rockstar Games. This happened as many as 14 years after the console debut of this iconic production, so the expectations were high.
The PC edition of RDR is a high-quality port.
Fortunately, it turned out to be a peerles conversion.
- On Steam, 93% of player reviews praise Red Dead Redemption, which is categorized as "very positive" reception.
- Players, of course, praise the game itself, its plot, missions, and the excellently realized open world. All of this was already in the console versions, so it's not a surprise. The most important element of this port are the technical aspects and this is where we can breathe a sigh of relief. This time there was no botched work like in the case of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. The PC version of Red Dead Redemption is well-made, free from glaring errors, and offers very good optimization.
- It is often said that this is by far the best version of this classic. The PC edition offers many improvements. There is no frame rate limit, vegetation is generated at greater distances, and two-dimensional interface elements, such as the minimap, have been completely remastered in HD.
This high quality is thanks to studio Double 11, which did most of the work on porting RDR to PC. It is therefore not surprising that some fans want Rockstar Games to continue working with this team and, for example, use it to develop a remaster of Grand Theft Auto IV.
RDR on PC - activity results
The PC version of Red Dead Redemption also achieves good activity results. The release day record was 8,697 concurrent players on Steam, which is an impressive number for a port of such an old game. By comparison, in the case of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, the most popular was the remastered San Andreas, with just 1,699 people playing at the same time.
PC port of Red Read Redemption turned out to be a success. Practically the only thing the players criticize is the price. It amounts to $49.99, which indeed seems a bit excessive for such an old title.
