Long awaited sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes has arrived. According to initial impressions by critics and fans, Remnant II delivers in all aspects. It’s bigger, better, prettier and more content-rich than its predecessor. It’s not all sunshine and roses though. As the old video game saying goes – “It’s dangerous to go alone”. Well, it’s rather difficult in Remnant 2 right now due to connectivity issues. Keep reading to learn more about what’s happening with network connection and if there is a way to mitigate this issue.

Connection issues in Remnant 2

There have been numerous reports from the players regarding various problems in Remnant 2. The developers from Gunfire Games studio seem to be aware of the situation and they released a fix that was supposed to help with that. It looks like the latest patch deepened the connectivity issues for many players.

Gamers are experiencing errors like “Network Connection Lost” which is a result of lengthy waiting time while trying to join a game with friends. The same happens when trying to join public games too.

In addition to that there are fans who are not able to get or even view their achievements. What’s more, some of them were not even able to activate Steam Overlay. That would suggest there is an issue with Steam integration.

How to fix network problems in Remnant II

A Steam user named Sykodel has found a potential solution to many connection problems that some players are facing. In order to fix them, all you have to do is to go to C:\users\[your_username]\savedgames\remnant2 and move the save files from non-steam folder to the steam one.

Sadly, there is not much that can be done by us, players. All the problems that the game faces seem to be connected to their internal infrastructure. However, it won’t hurt to double check several standard network troubleshooting steps:

  1. Make sure that you are connected to the internet via cable. Even though wi-fi connection may appear to be strong and reliable, there can still be problems related to that. So far, the cable is always superior.
  2. Restart your router. This is an old yet golden IT troubleshooting principle – “Have you tried turning it off and on again?”
  3. Although highly not recommended, if you are desperate enough you can try disabling your antivirus software.
  4. Another thing to check is to make sure that the game servers are working. There is no official site to verify it, but you can look for more information regarding that on official Twitter (X) account of the game or the game’s publisher – Gearbox Software.
  5. As a last resort you can try linking your Steam and Epic Games Store accounts even if you bought the game on Steam. There are players saying that it improved their connection stability.

Lastly, we can only hope that Gunfire Games releases a patch that will hopefully address all the issues that the players are experiencing. Good luck!
