SnowRunner Gets Map Ravaged by Fires

We know the release date of the new DLC for SnowRunner. This time we will head to Canada to put out fires and admire the autumn landscapes of Ontario from the windows of two new vehicles.

Fans of slowly trudging through mud and wilderness will probably be pleased with the information about the imminent release of a new DLC for SnowRunner. Season 9: Renew & Rebuild will be released on February 28, 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It will offer players two new regions, set thematically in Ontario, Canada, two vehicles and new mechanics related to firefighting.

Burned forests in Ontario

SnowRunner is a simulation game, enabling us to sit behind the wheel of off-road machines and traverse the wilderness and perform missions that require the player to think and plan the route (and sometimes a lot of patience). Compared to other games, it stands out with advanced physical simulation of the terrain, especially mud. The game's developers are constantly working on additional content - they have released eight large DLCs containing new terrains and vehicles (and several smaller ones with skins and truck packs).

The latest expansion, due for release on February 28, is the ninth in the series and opens the content of Year 3 Pass . Its owners will be able to download the DLC for free on release day, while the rest of those interested will have to buy it. Renew & Rebuild is primarily two new maps, each with an area of 4 square kilometers - Albany River and Burnt Forest. They contain environmental elements specific to Ontario, Canada.

As we saw in the eighth expansion, Saber Interactive tries to add new mechanics in successive DLCs. This is also the case this time - Renew & Rebuild will enable the players to feel a bit like firefighters. Both maps will feature areas of burned forests and missions related to firefighting, hauling water and rebuilding water towers.

The developers have prepared two new vehicles for players (unfortunately, both unlicensed), equipped with unique firefighting accessories:

  • Derry Special 15C-177: an unlicensed version of a heavy military tractor Oshkosh M977 HEMTT. It has four drive axles and powerful engines. It could be a good American alternative to the ZikZ 605R.
  • ZiKZ 566A: A small truck modeled after the real MAZ 200 from the 1950s. A simple and versatile vehicle for lighter tasks and exploration.

In addition to the new trucks, we will receive new trailers and accessories tailored to carry water. These could already be seen in the trial version of the DLC, made available for beta testing.

Year 3 Pass with four new DLC

The season pass, in addition to Season 9: Renew & Rebuild is expected to include three more DLCs, numbered 10, 11, and 12. Although we know almost nothing about them, the game's publisher has revealed that they will feature vehicles from Mack and Kenworth. So the world of SnowRunner is still waiting for a lot of additional content. Fans of this game do not need to be persuaded, they are waiting impatiently, and players who have not yet had experienced this title are welcome - the sight of heavy vehicles trudging through the mud is incredibly absorbing, and the joy of completing a difficult mission thanks to a method one has discovered on their own is immesurable.
