Star Wars The Old Republic Can Expect Further Support

BioWare has no plans to end the development of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The story will continue after the release of Legacy of the Sith expansion.

Next month Star Wars: The Old Republic will celebrate 10th birthday. It turns out that this MMORPG probably has many more years of life ahead of it. Such conclusions can be drawn from the interview that was given to PC Gamer by Charles Boyd, the creative director of the project.

In the interview, Boyd stated that BioWare has no plans to end development of Star Wars: The Old Republic. He assures that he and his team still have plenty of new stories to tell in this MMORPG.

Concerns about the future of the game have arisen, among other things, because it seems that the current storyline is heading towards some sort of finale. In the upcoming Legacy of the Sith DLC, the main enemy will be Darth Malgus, the most recognizable villain in the game. Boyd assures that this expansion will not be the end of his story and he will return in later stories as well.

Thus, it can be assumed that BioWare already has another expansion planned. That said, Boyd doesn't deny that Legacy of the Sith may be the culmination of some important threads concerning Darth Malgus.

The DLC is expected to launch at the end of this year. Legacy of the Sith will offer new planets and numerous improvements to the combat and character progression systems.

The upcoming expansion will not only introduce new content but also change some old elements. It will abolish the class system, replacing them with combat styles. This is important because each profession offered different adventures. Now it will be possible, for example, to play the story of a smuggler as a bounty hunter. The new solution will also provide more freedom in character progression.
