Starfield on New Footage; Game World With Impressive Details

Bethesda has released a new video, in which the developers discuss aspects of the upcoming space sim Starfield. According to Todd Howard's promises, the game will offer stunning level of detail.

Bethesda has released the first video in the Exploring Starfield series, which sheds some more light on the concept of the game and its world creation. In the material we can listen to Todd Howard, Angela Browder and Matt Carafano, who are involved in work on the upcoming RPG.

The video has the subtitle The Endless Pursuit is a kind of sentimental journey through past projects and experience gained during that time, which has a strong influence on the process of creating Starfield.

"We worked on Morrowind and we thought about what we could do next. We made a list of worlds we wanted to go to, and of course Fallout was at the top. We dreamed of having the opportunity to make it, and luckily we were able to make that dream come true. Right behind it, on the other hand, were sci-fi settings. There's something magical about defying gravity and leaving the planet. It's an incredibly difficult challenge for humanity," said Howard.

The creators do not hide that they devote a lot of attention to the exploration aspect of the game world. We can expect that discovering new areas in Starfield will be even more satisfying than in previous Bethesda games. First-person perspective and the possibility of interaction with the environment are to enable us to soak in the created universe more strongly.

"A lot of our games are based around exploration, and there's no greater place to explore than what we find beyond Earth, right? That's why we're excited to work on this project. (...) The laws of this world are very different, but there are also similarities. And those are the things we like so much. We like the first-person perspective, the coffee mugs. We like being able to touch everything. It enables us to believe in the game world. Being able to watch the sun set, the night come, watch the world live its life. It may not seem like gameplay, but it's important for the immersion," said Howard.

The big difference compared to The Elder Scrolls will certainly be the world, which we will have to get to know. It will not be a fantasy universe, where reality does not matter much. Starfield is to have a thoughtful and coherent world, consistent with the laws of science.

"Starfield is more realistic and science-based, and Skyrim was a pure fantasy story. The former is more grounded in reality and is about exploring reality, which enables us to approach our work differently. It's something we stick to when we create new zones, new environments, new characters," said Carafano.

"We're starting to feel it ourselves, it's real. All this you're talking about - we do that, and then we think about what they eat, what toys their kids play with, what bedtime stories they have. What their art is like, their history, their entertainment. It's a universe, not just a game," adds Howard.

The release of Starfield is scheduled for November 11, 2022. The game will appear on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The title is also to be immediately available as part of the Xbox Game Pass offer.
