The developers of Squad decided to try their hand at the science fiction genre. The result is the cooperative shooter Starship Troopers: Extermination.
Known for its excellent tactical shooter Squad, studio Offworld Industries gave us a pleasant surprise, announcing Starship Troopers: Extermination, an FPS based on the movie license.
Starship Troopers: Extermination is a co-op FPS in which players will take on the role of soldiers of the elite Deep Space Vanguard unit, fighting against the alien bugs known as Arachnids.
Up to 12 players will be able to fight in our unit at the same time. This is a much higher number than in typical co-op shooters, but it fits the pedigree of Offworld Industries, which wants to provide us with a more tactically developed position than standard co-op FPSs.
Players will be able to choose between three character classes, specializing in attack, defense and support. During the gameplay we are to not only fight bugs, but also put up defensive structures, including walls and automatic cannons.
The gameplay will take place on a large map divided into five zones, which we will be reclaiming. Many of them have valuable structures, such as outposts or refineries, which, once taken over, will help us in battle. It will also be necessary to destroy swarms of bugs. The game will be geared towards close cooperation between the players, and to facilitate this, it will offer a quick communication system, enabling us to easily inform comrades-in-arms of, for example, approaching enemies or points of interest.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the developers have already released the game's system requirements on Steam.
