April on Steam Belonged to RPGs, Remasters and Outriders

In terms of releases, April on Steam belonged to RPGs and remasters. Successful debuts were made by highly anticipated games such as Outriders or NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., but the list of major debuts also included a few surprises.

Valve released a list of April's biggest launches on Steam. The criterion was the revenue generated in the first two weeks after the launch. The list of games includes Outriders, among others. The creators boasted that in April over 3.5 million people played the title and a large part of them did so on PC. The success of this game is not surprising. A big surprise, however, are the successes of The Slormancer and CryoFall.

It is worth noting that the past month was marked by RPGs and remasters. Almost half of the items in the list belonged to the first category, and refreshed versions of older titles made up one third of the games on the list.

Traditionally, no detailed sales results were revealed, or even the correct order of the titles. That's why we added the estimates from the paid version of Steam Spy service to the list. Unfortunately, they can be very inaccurate, so the data below should be taken with a grain of salt. Also keep in mind that the website gives the total number of owners of a given production, and some of them were previously available in Early Access.

April's biggest F2P launches (by number of simultaneous players)

Valve also published an additional list, including the most popular F2P launches of April. In this case, the criterion was the activity record, or the number of user playing simultaneously. We sorted the following list according to the overall activity record of a given game, not just from April, as this gives a better idea of the given game's level of success on Steam.

Low score of World of Tanks should not be surprising, because it includes only players playing on Steam. The game has long been available through its own client and most of the community remained with this form of distribution.
