Another weekend means a fresh batch of Buzzwords in Cookie Jam. With summer in full swing, the theme has shifted from food to sunshine vibes. We already answered “Beach crustacean,” “Fine grained beaches are [blank],” and “Protects from sunburns.” Now it’s time for “Riding waves powered by wind,” and I’m here to help you out.
Thank goodness we don’t have to choose from the entire alphabet to answer Buzzwords in Cookie Jam, just a limited set of letters, which made this one so much easier to solve:
Now for some fun windsurfing trivia. Back in the 1940s and '50s, inventors and sailors were already playing around with the idea, trying to stick sails onto surfboards or small boats. Most of these were just personal experiments that never really took off.
In 1964 an American named Newman Darby came up with a simple sailboard using a hand-held sail. He’s often credited with the original idea, but he never actually patented it. But the real breakthrough came in 1968, thanks to two Californians: Jim Drake, a sailor and engineer, and Hoyle Schweitzer, a surfer and businessman. They created a board with a rotating sail mounted on a universal joint, which meant you could finally steer it properly. And just like that, modern windsurfing was born.
If you get stuck on any other Buzzwords, don’t worry, just check out our other Cookie Jam guides. We’ll add hints like “Professional seafood catcher” and more.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
