The Bard’s Tale IV – See The Game Environment Generated By Unreal Engine 4

A video was published online showing off the capabilities of the engine utilized in The Bard’s Tale IV, the sequel to the legendary cRPG parody series for which a Kickstarter campaign was launched several days ago.

The Bard’s Tale IV in a nutshell:
  • Developer: inXile entertainment
  • Publisher: inXile entertainment
  • Genre: cRPG
  • Platforms: PC (Win, Mac, Linux)
  • Release date: Q4 2017

Above you can see the video published by inXile entertainment that presents the environment of The Bard's Tale IV rendered on Unreal Engine 4, which will support this RPG provided that the developer manages to raise the required funds. One has to admit that this tech demo looks really good for a crowdfunded production with a relatively small budget, and definitely better than the recently announced Fallout 4 from Bethesda Softworks. The continuation of the legendary series RPGs debuted on Kickstarter 3 days ago and has so far managed to collect a little over a million dollars. It therefore seems that the developers should find it easy to successfully collect USD 1.25 million needed to produce said title (we also know that the studio itself will make a contribution to the production budget of at least twice as much). The progress of the campaign surely benefitted from the already expired opportunity to receive a free game for supporting The Bard's Tale IV within 48 hours from the launch of the fundraiser.

Those who would like to know more about the project should check out the Kickstarter campaign website. It provides virtually all the information required to decide whether to support the game. In order to ensure access to The Bard's Tale IV, we have to part with at least USD 20.

inXile entertainment can already boast two successful crowdfunding campaigns: for Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera. Since various spiritual successors and sequels to classics are in demand right now, Brian Fargo and his team once again seek funding directly from the fans.

According to the current release date shown on the Kickstarter website, The Bard's Tale IV will debut at the end of 2017 on personal computers with Windows, Mac OS and Linux. The game will be distributed on Steam and GOG.com.
