In February of this year, the shooter Star Wars: Republic Commando celebrated its twentieth anniversary. While we probably won’t ever see an official sequel, we can count on dedicated fans who are working hard to breathe new life into this classic. One of the most interesting results of these efforts is the SWRC Remaster mod, which has just received a major update.
As the name suggests, this project is an unofficial remaster. Most of the textures have been replaced with new, higher-resolution versions. Many 3D models have also been improved, and support has been added for high widescreen resolutions (including ultrawide formats). Bugs left over from all previous patches have been fixed, and gameplay enhancements have been introduced as well.

The new version, SWRC Remaster is 1.8 Beta 2 and brings several noteworthy improvements:
SWRC Remaster is a must-have for anyone who wants to play Star Wars: Republic Commando on PC today. When combined with the Star Wars Republic Commando Fix mod, it delivers all the essential fixes and enhancements you need. This is particularly valuable given that the game has never received an official PC remaster. A few years ago, a port of the game was released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch with some improvements, but those changes were never brought to the PC version. That’s no great loss, however, as SWRC Remaster offers far more substantial upgrades than that re-release.
