The Game Awards 2020 Will be a Bit Unusual This Year

Geoff Keighley provided some details about this year's formula for The Game Awards. This year's gala will be virtual, but still there will be many attractions.

The coronavirus pandemic forced a change in the formula of The Game Awards. Geoff Keighley, the host of the gala, told us what the event will look like this year.

In recent years, the event took place in the Microsoft Theater center located in Los Angeles. This year it was decided that the gala will be broadcast from three locations - London, Tokyo and LA. For obvious reasons, we will not find an audience in any of these places. There will be live music performances, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which will play songs in the famous Abbey Road studio.

Awarded artists will not be able to collect the statuettes in person. Thanks to the virtual form of this year's edition of The Game Awards, the event will feature guest developers from all over the world, broadcasting from the studios or their own homes.

Geoff Keighley assured that the viewers will receive many opportunities to interact with the events at the gala, not only on social media and streaming websites, but also in events organized in popular games. However, the details will not be revealed until some time later.

This year's The Game Awards will take place on December 10. Last week, the list of nominated games was revealed. Hades and The Last of Us: Part II - each of these games will compete in nine categories.

Traditionally, the winners will be decided both by selected jurors and by the gamers themselves, casting votes on the official TGA 2020 website. During the gala we will not only watch the award ceremony, but we can also expect the announcements of new games and fresh video materials from upcoming projects.
