That Was Fast: Pedro Pascal Already Available in The Last of Us PC

The debut of The Last of Us on PC is a chance for modders to „spice up” Naughty Dog's hit. For example, changing Joel's face to that of the actor known from the HBO show with a paid mod.

Gamers can already replace Joel's face in the PC edition of The Last of Us: Part I with the likeness of Pedro Pascal from HBO's TV adaptation of the game.

The mod that makes this possible is the result of a collaboration between the Alpha Studios team and youtuber Speclizer (the same one who a year ago showed an intriguing modification to God of War). The former prepared high-quality "renders" of Pedro Pascal's face, which the modders then superimposed on Joel's in-game model. You can see the effect in the video, which we have posted below.

The whole thing comes off surprisingly well, although Pascal speaking Joel's lines in Troy Baker's voice gives a rather strange vibe. It's also possible to notice some grimaces or small glitches (for example, with facial hair), which indicate that we are dealing with a modification.

Unfortunately, the mod is not available to everyone. Speclizer shared it in a post intended for its Patreon supporters and so far has not mentioned that he intends to make it available for free.

Other modders aren't idle either, only that for the time being, such "joyful creations" are not on their minds. Most of the mods that have made it to Nexus Mods, are technical and visual fixes that players need in connection with - let's call it - the highly unsatisfactory condition of the PC port of the first The Last of Us.
