The Sinking City – the new game from the devs of Sherlock Holmes deals with Cthulhu Mythos

Frogwares, the studio behind Sherlock Holmes adventure series, announced their next project. The Sinking City is an open world game set in the Cthulhu Mythos.

Frogwares revealed the title of their upcoming Lovecraftian project. But first, a word of introduction first. Frogwares is the studio that worked on the Call of Cthulhu RPG for Focus Home Interactive until the project was handed down to Cyanide last year. The team is currently collaborating with Bigben Interactive on the Sherlock Holmes franchise, but they are also preparing another title – the aforementioned horror game, called The Sinking City.

On their official website Frogwares describe The Sinking City as “an open world investigation Lovecraftian game”. It doesn’t exactly sound like the same project they worked on for Focus Home Interactive, but perhaps the developer managed to secure some of its assets. Either way, the two concepts are distinctively different. Unlike Call of Cthulhu’s semi-open world (see this news), The Sinking City will feature a fully explorable city that is partially under water, as we can see on the first screenshot:

The Sinking City will be demoed live at next week’s Game Developer Conference 2016 in San Francisco, CA. For now we have no word as for the release date.
