Digital Foundry Examines Next-gen The Witcher 3; Conclusions are Bittersweet

Next-gen The Witcher 3 has been analyzed in detail by Digital Foundry. Not everything is as it should be.

The next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been mentioned a lot recently, although not always in the context CD Projekt RED would like. While the update improved the visuals and added some content and highlights, it unfortunately spoiled the game's performance, especially with ray-tracing enabled on PC. The Digital Foundry, a channel where game tests are regularly presented, published an analysis of The Witcher 3 in terms of performance.

How did the next-gen The Witcher 3 perform?

Performance issues and fps drops were already written about, and now the topic is analyzed in detail by Digital Foundry.

The Witcher 3 has been praised for its visuals, which indeed look beautiful, but the tester admitted that he was disappointed, among other things, because the game runs as if it uses only one CPU core, presents an unnatural shadow jump when ray tracing is enabled, and occasionally freezes strangely, even when holding 60 frames per visual differences.

CD Projekt RED's game, however, was praised for the improved detail draw distance or texture detail, especially when it comes to the outfits worn by the characters in the game. In conclusion, the author of the analysis admitted that he is both in love with the game and disappointed with its current technical state, which negatively affects the reception.

Despite the performance issues, which will hopefully be regularly fixed, The Witcher 3 enjoys considerable popularity, as we recently mentioned. At the time of this writing there are just over 44,000 professional monster killers on the trail.
