The developers of The Witcher 4 have revealed that this is the first game from the CD Projekt RED studio to be developed primarily with consoles in mind. This approach aims to avoid repeating the mistakes of Cyberpunk 2077.

The Cyberpunk 2077 launch was a disaster, especially on consoles. Therefore, one of the priorities of CD Projekt RED is to ensure that this situation doesn't repeat itself with The Witcher 4.
Such information may be disappointing for PC gamers, but the devs' approach makes sense. Repeating the situation from Cyberpunk 2077 would be an absolute disaster for the team.
It's safer to make sure that The Witcher 4 runs smoothly on consoles rather than trying to push the limits of PC power when the game launches. Especially since if the creators want to, they can easily upgrade the graphics for the PC version later on, like improving the lighting and textures.
The statement from the developers about Xbox Series S is also not surprising. Many devs complain about the limited power of this console, which is further exacerbated by the fact that Microsoft insists that versions for this device cannot be inferior to releases for the Xbox Series X.
About the troubles it generates, people from Remedy studio and Larian team have spoken before. Del Walker, a former employee of Rocksteady Studios, joked that people from CD Projekt RED must have undergone good media training because, unlike him, they speak very diplomatically about the limitations of Xbox Series S.
