Original news

Renowned leaker billbil-kun published information related to the latest installment of the well-liked platformer series from Frozenbyte on Twitter. Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy has appeared in the offer of several online stores.

According to the information available there, the game - like previous installments - will be a 2.5D platformer with three protagonists and puzzle game elements, maintained in the style of a fairy tale story. Trine 5 is expected to offer a co-op mode for up to four players in a local or network option.

According to the stores, Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, as well as on Nintendo Switch. The game is expected to cost $29.99. For the moment, however, there is no more precise information from the developer regarding the release date or supported language versions.

Trine series - ups and downs

Trine became known to the players in 2009, when the first part of the game was released. Sympathetic, colorful graphics, fairytale atmosphere and gameplay combining elements of platforming with environmental puzzles quickly won the hearts of players. The key system of the game was a mechanic that allowed for changing the active character during the game to making the best use of the special abilities of each character.

After two warmly received installments, the series began to experiment with new elements, such as moving to 3D. The new direction was not to the liking of players and, as a result, Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is now considered the worst part of the series. Developers fortunately took the community's reactions to heart, making the 2019's Trine 4 a strong return to the classic formula.
