In recent years, the film industry has witnessed a significant surge in video game adaptations. Sony leads this venture, successfully transforming several of its exclusive IPs into movies and TV series. Nonetheless, the PlayStation brand owner is not resting on its laurels and is already plotting its next endeavor.

The Hollywood Reporter (vide Bingefire) has revealed that the next franchise slated for film adaptation is Until Dawn. The PS4 game, launched in 2015, revolves around a group of youngsters in a secluded, picturesque mountain cabin. Their tranquil retreat abruptly transforms into a fight for survival. Each decision by the player influences the narrative and ultimately, its conclusion.

The forthcoming film's direction is under the capable helm of David F. Sandberg, renowned for his works like Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out and the Shazam series. Gary Dauberman takes the reins as the screenplay writer. He is set to refine the narrative initially penned by Blair Butler.

Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions are on board for the film's production. Currently we don't know any more specifics about the film. It's known that the film aspires to be a "terrifying love letter to R-rated horror films."

Thanks to Sony we have been able to watch acclaimed titles like The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo and Uncharted. Awaiting their turn for adaptation, alongside Until Dawn, are the Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War.
