That '70s Show was a hit, so years later it was decided to revisit this sitcom and produce a sequel, That '90s Show. The new series focused on the children of the main characters, who were going through their own youthful adventures, watched over by the well-known Red and Kitty Forman.

The sequel consisted of 3 parts, combining into 2 seasons. And after them, the production may end, as Netflix does not want to continue That '90s Show, so it canceled the sitcom. The news was shared on Instagram by Kurtwood Smith, who plays Red.

I know you have been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I have tough news…Netflix will not be renewing. I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all of the fans everywhere who supported and watched the show. You have come up to me in random parts of the world when I’m traveling and reached out to me through social media and just been so wonderful. I’ve loved every minute of getting to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all.

I’ve said it before but it’s worth mentioning again…this show had so much heart behind it and the most wonderful cast, writers, directors, producers and crew an actor could hope to work with. Thanks for letting Red and Kitty, their grandkid, all their grandkids friends and neighbors, the original cast members of That 70’s Show and all of our wonderful guest cast members entertain you for two seasons. To steal Red Forman’s words…we aren’t going to be dumbasses…we will shop the show, because good grandparents would try hard to get these kids graduated from high school.

Kurtwood Smith, while sharing the unpleasant news, also decided to awaken hope in fans. He informed that the cast and creators are not going to give up, and apparently there are plans to try to sell the sitcom to another distributor. However, it remains to be seen what will come of this and whether anyone will decide to take over the production.

Therefore, for the time being, fans have to deal with the news that That '90s Show will not continue on Netflix, where it ended with season 2. The production at the Netflix with the 2nd season only once reached the platform's top 10, which means that the title's viewership was not large. From part to part, the audience was declining, which probably weighed on Netflix's decision to cancel the sitcom, which was not attracting people. The last eight episodes are estimated to have recorded less than 1.9 million views on the opening weekend, less than 1.6 million views on the first full weekend and 1.4 million on the second.
