The newest part of episodic horror Poppy Playtime was released a few days ago. Chapter 3, as it was predicted, adds to the rich lore of the game, and ends with a cliffhanger. Of course, it is a great marketing device to prepare fans for Chapter 4, but at the same time it bothers many players. In our guide we will try to explain the finale of the title using some theories.

What Happens at the End of Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

You are probably here to see some spoilers, but to be fair, be warned, as we describe Chapter 3 ending below.

At the end of the game, CatNap is killed by a Prototype and its body is taken away. Once again, we don’t see the full antagonist, but only its hand.

We have also a chance to see a video contains the “Hour of Joy” uprising. We can see that all workers (and probably all humans in general) were killed during this event. Their bodies were hidden and eaten by the experiments.

What is more, when we descend to the lower parts of the factory, we can hear Kissy Missy screams. As we try to go up with Poppy, the game ends.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 Ending Explained

Theories presented below are just that – theories. They may or may not turn out to be true. Keep this in mind.

During the fight against CatNap we hurt it badly. However, it is not the main protagonist who kills the creature, but the Prototype. We know from DogDay, that the cat worships Experiment 1006 as a god. So, it is not a surprise that the creature kneels in front of the hand.

It seems that CatNap accepts its death… or waits for some help, as at the beginning the hand looks like it is going to help the creature but decides to kill it instead. After CatNap’s death, the Prototype takes the body away.

It is not a surprise, as we know from the previous chapters, the Prototype takes bodies of big experiments. But why does it do that?

Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 – The Prototype and body theory

The most popular and believable theory is that the Prototype wants to create a new body for itself. Make itself bigger and better. It is proven by CatNaps shrines (if we believe that they represent Experiment 1006) and by the fact that the main antagonist seems to become bigger from chapter to chapter (at least its hand).

If we think about it this way, it seems that the protagonist may help the Prototype unwillingly. It suits well to Ollie theory; we write about it in a separate article.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 – Kissy Missy’s death?

Once we descend to the lower part of the factory, we can hear Kissy Missy’s scream. The game ends with a cliffhanger and we have to wait for Chapter 4 to learn her fate, but even now there are some plausible theories.

When Kissy Missy is attacked, we can hear her voice and someone else’s. Many players believe that it is Huggy Wuggy’s scream, but the creature is probably dead, at least some clues suggest so. There is also another entity which can scream in a similar manner – Smiling Critters.

It is very likely that these creatures used the opportunity to kidnap Kissy Missy’s body for the Prototype. However, her death is not certain. We wouldn’t be surprised if Chapter 4 was about finding her. The result of the search may be something unexpected though. For example, brainwashed Kissy Missy is an option.
