Answering this week’s Buzzwrods is a challenging task. Looking at the first questions I can see that developers take us on a culinary journey around the world – France, Denmark and, in this case, England. However, we are answering inquiries about desserts, so I don’t really mind. It is good to learn something new.

1. Layers of fruits, sponge, and custard – Trifle.

Trifle is a word which you are looking for. However, in this case we are not talking about something “unimportant” (as it is one of its definitions). In the context of Cookie Jam, we should look at it as a dessert! It is an English dish, so those who don’t live in Shakespeare’s country, have the right not to know it. As the hint suggest, this treat has layers of tasty things – fresh fruits or jelly, custard and sponge soaked in sherry. It is also quite old, as we can track it to XVI century.
