During a presentation at the WWDC 2019 conference, Apple announced numerous novelties, which should soon appear on the devices of this manufacturer. Among the revealed items we will find iOS 13, Catalina macOS and new Mac Pro with a monitor, the stand for which costs around $ 1000.

Just bragging and bragging...

The annual WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) organized by Apple began yesterday in San Jose, California. As every year, at the beginning of the event, the company decided to boast novelties in the field of software and hardware.

iOS 13

We will start with what the WWDC 2019 could not have done without. Apple has introduced the latest version of the operating system for its flagship iPhone product. Among the novelties in iOS 13, in addition to general performance improvements, we will find a new dark mode for the whole system and a popular swipe keyboard for Android.

During the presentation there was a lot of talk about privacy protection and one of the ways to improve user security is to integrate the Apple account with applications, so we can use them to log in, as we have used previously, for example, accounts on Facebook or Twitter. Another interesting aspect of security is the alias generator, which enables us to register in any application without using our real e-mail address. Aliases can be removed at any time to avoid spam from unused applications. In iOS 13, it will be easier to control which applications use our exact location, and we will be able to grant privileges to applications for a limited period of time.

Changes have also been made to the Photos application, where the algorithms will try to help us sort photos so that we can see only what we want to see - no doubles or receipt photos. In addition, many applications have been updated - Siri will fully rely on the speech synthesizer, photo editor will get some new advanced features, and in the messenger will be able to create an account, so that someone who also uses this feature and receives a message from us, will see our name and photo automatically, even if we are not on their contact list.

iPadOS

Apple decided to make a big change and create a separate operating system for the iPad. This will be a de facto iOS under the hood but configured specifically for tablets. It also supports SMB, iCloud Drive folder sharing, and portable storage. In addition, Safari has a new download manager, and there are new split screen options, widgets, and gestures for working with text in the system.

Apple's trying to make the iPad a bit more laptop-ish.

Mac Pro

The only new hardware presented by Apple is Mac Pro and it is a very interesting proposition. The company moved away from the waste bucket stylistics of the previous model and decided to move towards a big grater vibe. Jokes aside, it's a really powerful workstation for graphic and video professionals.

Stainless steel housing hides up to 28 core Intel Xeon processor, 12 RAM slots (supporting up to 1.5TB of memory), 8 PCI Express slots (4 with double-band) and 1400W power supply. The basic version of the device will be equipped with an eight-core Xeon, 32 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD and Radeon Pro 580X graphics card. Now take a deep breath - all for $5,999.

This is how the new grater, excuse me, Mac Pro from Apple looks like.

The workstation will be complemented by a 32-inch screen supporting HDR functions with the brightness of 1000 nits and contrast of 100000000:1. The monitor will not be cheap, because its prices will start from 4999 USD. However, if we have another 999 USD to spend, we will be able to buya stand for it as well.

macOS Catalina

During the presentation, the new operating system - macOS Catalina - was also presented. The biggest change we'll find here is probably the splitting of iTunes into a few smaller apps. From now on, music, podcasts and TV will have dedicated applications, and synchronization with the computer will be done through the Finder app.

An interesting new feature called Sidecar appeared the refreshed system from Apple, , which allows you to connect to your MacBook, iMac and Mac Pro (wired or wirelessly) iPad, which will serve as a second screen or tablet for drawing.

There is no revolution, but a solid evolution can be seen.

From the point of view of developers, a noteworthy novelty is the announcement of the Catalyst project, which will allow for easy transfer of applications created for iPads to macOS devices. Apple also boasted some minor changes, such as using voice commands to control the system or introducing time measurement of the time we spend in front of the screen.

WatchOS

Smartwatches from Apple have also had their software updated. From now on, we have a choice of more watch "faces", and we can make it vibrate every time a full hour strikes. The most important novelty, however, is the integration with the Apple App Store. From now on, we can browse and download applications from our device. The list of available software has also been extended by a calculator. Several new options will also be available in the Health application, which from now on will enable monitoring of ambient noise levels, and women will be given the opportunity to monitor their menstrual cycle.

WatchOS allows for more and more.

tvOS

At the end of the day, there were some news on tvOS. The operating system used by Apple TV devices has been updated to support multiple users (so that everyone can receive personalised suggestions) and has also introduced support for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamepads within the Apple Arcade platform. The users will also have access to new underwater screensavers.
