$1,000 Stand for Apple Monitor Causes Outrage

At yesterday's WWDC 2019 conference, Apple unveiled its new 6K Pro Display XDR monitor. An interesting fact is that the stand for the device is sold separately and costs as much as... the new iPhone XS.

Although at the WWDC 2019 conference Apple presented mainly novelties concerning the new OS created by the company (and the debut of iPad OS), there was also room for hardware novelties. The Cupertino company introduced the Mac Pro for professional use, but the Apple Pro Display XDR had drawn much more attention (mixed with shock and awe), mainly due to the peculiar way it was distributed.

The manufacturer has decided to sell the monitor and its stand separately - we will pay for both elements accordingly: 4999 and 999 dollars. Especially the price of the multifunctional stand is very surprising - for the same price we will buy last year's Apple's flagship smartphone, i.e. iPhone XS. Anyway, it is enough to look at the reactions of the audience at the price of the stand and the embarrassment of the showrunner, who probably did not expect such a commotion:

So yeah, it's not cheap, but admittedly it's an equipment that will be used mainly by people looking for a device with great screen parameters, not necessarily paying attention to its price.

Original design is traditionally a trademark of Apple products.

Apple Pro Display XDR is a 32-inch monitor that displays images in 6K resolution, i.e. 6016 x 3884 pixels. The maximum brightness of the panel is noticeable, being as high as 1000 nits in the context of the backlighting of the entire screen. Taking into account the parameter of point illumination, we can expect a result of around 1600 rivets. This performance allows you to enjoy the recently popular HDR mode with ease.

As befits professional equipment, the monitor features 10-bit color display and covers the entire DCI-P3 color palette. In addition, a contrast ratio of 1,000,000,000:1 is achieved and the Ambient Light Sensor technology allows the brightness of the screen to be adjusted to the conditions of the monitor environment.

Apple has shocked the industry once again - hopefully, selling monitors and stands separately will not become a new trend among manufacturers of these devices. Apple Pro Display XDR will go to its first customers this fall.
