Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart: Trudi - how to spit fire?
On this page of the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart game guide, we explain how to unlock the option to spit fireballs as Trudi, the friendly flying creature from Sargasso. This might be important to know if you plan to get 100% of the zurpstones (purple fruits) on Sargasso.
The following walkthrough contains minor spoilers about selected events that occur during the main and side quests of the game.

As a reminder, Trudi is a large flying beast that somewhat resembles a dragon. It was tamed by the Morts of the planet Sargasso.
After you have sufficiently progressed in the game, you will receive an optional mission objective on Sargasso involving feeding Trudi with zurpstones (purple fruits) - we describe this in more detail in our walkthrough on the Return to Sargasso - Trudi page.

There are 60 zurpstones for Trudi on the planet Sargasso. After you find 30 zurpstones and return to the Morts in the factory, the option to fly on Trudi will be unlocked.

Unfortunately, Trudi initially lacks any offensive skills. The exception to this rule will be the main mission requiring you to defend Sargasso later in the game, in which the flying beast can spit fire and grab bombs and throw them. Unfortunately, the game will not allow you to use fireballs after the main mission (if you haven't had this ability unlocked yet - check below for details).

In order to unlock the option to shoot fireballs, you need to find 45 of the 60 zurpstones for Trudi. From a certain point on, the map will display zurpstone locations. Take advantage of this and reach the ones accessible to Rivet, i.e. the ones that don't require you to fly. Once you have obtained 45 zurpstones, you will receive a message about unlocking Trudi's new ability.

From now on you will be able to press R2 to shoot fireballs. They have two main uses in the game:
- getting zurpstones from inaccessible locations - when you hit zurpstones with fireballs, they will count as found and you should use this method to collect zurpstones on roofs, chimneys or high platforms,
- attacking enemies mid-flight - this can be helpful if you want to gain XP while avoiding the extra risk associated with fighting them directly.
