After you have destroyed the tank, try taking the Northern city exit (point 17 on the map). Unfortunately, this results in a cutscene that informs you of the appearance of the enemy snipers around. After you regain control over your character, take cover, as quickly as possible, because you may become an easy target, otherwise.

Use the sniper rifle to eliminate all of the enemy snipers

IN my case, there were three snipers to eliminate - one of them to the South of the city's exit gate and two to the West of it (points 18 on the map). Still, keep in mind that they may move away from these points, a little bit and position themselves elsewhere. Find the successive snipers and try to stick out of your covers, only for brief moments, necessary to take the shot at a range. After you have secured the area, approach the gates again and wait for the mission to end.
