7. Old School RuneScape
- Business model: free-to-play with microtransactions
- Platforms: PC, AND, iOS
Old School RuneScape is an unusual case of an original version of the game going its own way. Classic servers have been popular for some time in MMORPG, but Jagex decided to take it a step further. At the players' request, it brought back the original RuneScape and took it for a completely different spin! This is how Old School RuneScape was created, which differs from its predecessor, receives separate updates and news, and has a separate community.
Old School RuneScape is simply a classic MMORPG focused on character development, skill improvement and acquiring better equipment. Interactions with other players play a significant role here, in form of trade, cooperation or PvP. The latter aspect is an essential part of Old School RuneScape , which is something to keep in mind. This title is also available on mobile devices, and it supports cross-play!
IN A NUTSHELL
Who's this game for? For players who do not expect sophisticated graphics, and at the same time like PvP and broad character development.
Is it regularly supported? That's right.
Similar games: RuneScape , Tibia .
Is it pay-to-win? Nope.
If not Old School, then just RuneScape 3!
RuneScape 3 is doing just as well as Old School RuneScape . The newer version of the game has a better graphics and a more sandbox-like structure. It also provides a slightly different, more complicated combat system, but in both cases, it is not the most dynamic game. RuneScape 3 offers much more content, though with a bit more aggressive monetization, which is something to keep in mind.
