4. Call of Duty: Warzone
CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE IN A NUTSHELL
- Developer: Raven Software, Infinity Ward
- Publisher: Activision Blizzard
- Platforms: PC, XOne, PS4
- Release date: March 10, 2020
In March last year, the most popular paid FPS brand made a spectacular leap to free-to-play. In 2019, we had a foretaste of it thanks to Call of Duty Mobile, but it was not a production that could please fans of the core series. Call of Duty: Warzone is different – it's a full-blooded CoD , built on the foundations of the excellent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
The game offers several game modes, including the popular battle royale. Other than that, we have solo combat and three/four-person teams. When it comes to these options, it is difficult to talk about their particularities, because the authors make changes to the content every now and then. Fortunately, this is done with consideration to player feedback. Even if the developers make a mistake (like removing three-person teams), they try to fix it quickly, which bodes well for the future of this project.
Basing the game on the foundations of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare provided a quality that other F2P shooters could only dream of. The graphics are absolutely stunning and the gameplay is very polished. The map is huge and full of interesting places, and the game can also boast a set of fresh ideas – such as the so-called "gulag" to which we are sent after "death." There, during a 1v1 duel, we can fight back to the main battle.
Call of Duty: Warzone is an excellent game for people intrigued by this series, but did not want to spend money on its paid versions. The series had a great launch in the F2P sgment, offering the best these games can offer, and at the same time introducing the level of performance typical of regular super-productions.
Currently, one and a half years after its premiere, Call of Duty: Warzone has an established, strong position on the market. Each premiere of the annual installment of the main series brings new content to the free spin-off. In addition, the game also develops fantastically on its own. In 2021, the authors changed the main map to the '84 variant, as well as introduced an alternative level modeled on the Alcatraz Island. In turn, at the beginning of December, the Caldera map will be released, related to WW2 Vanguard. Characters from cult action movies also arrived in the game, including John Rambo and John McClane from Die Hard. There is simply something going on in Warzone all the time, which effectively keeps players engaged.
