The Best RPGs on Game Pass

Game Netflix, as Game Pass is often called, offers more and more titles from different genres. However, RPG fans have the biggest reasons to be happy. The offer doesn't lack both classics and new releases. And even completely offbeat indies.

Final Fantasy X HD

  1. Release year: 2013 (for PSV and PS3)
  2. Developer: Square Enix

"Remaking" the classics is an even more common practice on the Japanese turf than in the West. Most the most popular series have been re-released, including Dragon Quest and Yakuza, also mentioned in this text. The most admirable of these in terms of popularity and quality, however, is Final Fantasy. It was this series that propelled the jRPG into a new era. Several times over. One such revolution was Final Fantasy X in 2001.

A revamp, now in HD quality, came to PSV and PS3 in 2013. Two years later, it debuted on PS4, in 2016 on PC, and in 2019 on Switch and Xbox. For some time now, it is also available in Game Pass. And even if you haven't had any contact with this series so far, it can be a great opportunity to catch up.

The plot of the game focuses on the fate of Tidus, who has been transported into the distant future and has to face a monster that has been terrorizing humanity for a millennium. During the game, we will also play as Yuna, a powerful summoner. As befits Final Fantasy, part ten includes interesting plot twists, original companions and, of course, a perfectly-balanced combat system.

Fae Tactics

  1. Release year: 2020
  2. Developer: EndlessFluff Games

Game Pass is not only about great, triple-A hits, but also more obscure indie games. Each of them can boast of original plot or visual solutions. And it doesn't go below a certain standard. Fae Tactics is no different. It's a tactical jRPG, at the same time drawing on the classics of the genre and introducing a few fresh improvements to the game.

The graphics are relatively simple. Some character designs do not necessarily match the backgrounds in terms of color palette. The backgrounds, especially in forest locations, look really nice. Also noteworthy is an extensive system of combat skills and the ability to compose a team in accordance with the tactics adopted by the player.

The main character of the game is Peony. A girl with magical talents tries to save the world from an armed conflict. The war seems to have been hanging in the air for a long time. In the Fae Tactics universe, there has been a sudden merger of two, once separate domains – one human, and one belonging to beings called the fae. Peony and his companions are trying to discover the secret of this conjunction. The plot is quite addictive, and when you add to that a really decent combat system, Fae Tactics may turn out to be able to suffice even for several dozen hours.
