At a time when GTA had Pac-Man's two-dimensional graphics and a top-down perspective, a game appeared on the market in which you drove cars around three large cities and took part in cinematic chases with the police. The cars were enormous, with bodies bending with such precision and realism that one can only dream of experiencing such damage today. Driver transferred chase scenes from the films: Bullitt, Smokey and the Bandit, The Blues Brothers, and many, many others to computers. The story of Tanner, a secret agent masquerading as a mafia driver, was probably the most cinematic experience that games offered at the time.

Driver also has one of the most memorable prologues. For some, it's because of the incredible atmosphere and idea, for others it's due to the high level of difficulty. Performing a few maneuvers in an empty but cramped parking lot was akin to a driving test that was a pleasure to repeat. The game proved to be a commercial hit, selling over a million copies in two months. Critics outdid each other in reviews - it was a dream come true for gamers and film fans. The game achieved a perfect balance between action and realism, combining great physics with arcade-style gameplay. Additionally, the graphics and sounds were amazing. Just pure joy!
