Subnautica: Below Zero

Subnautica is a successful mix of familiar themes from the core game with a satisfying amount of novelty.

Subnautica: Below Zero is not as much a full-fledged game as it is a standalone add-on to the extremely popular survival game, in which we tried to survive mainly underwater. So we generally get even more of the same thing, though there are enough changes to make it feel like we're starting a whole new adventure. In Below Zero, we face much less gracious conditions – freezing temperatures, snow, or the need to keep our bodies warm and construct vehicles capable of moving on ice.

The developers have managed to keep the gameplay engaging while putting even more emphasis on the story. We are intrigued not only by the improved and richer mechanics, but also by the story. The audiovisual setting does not disappoint either. It seems like an add-on, but the experience is like playing a whole new game!

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

New attire is one thing, but this trilogy is all about the story and characters.

The Mass Effect re-release earned its place on this list not because it's a good remake, but mainly because it's one of the best space operas in the history of gaming. Flawless? Of course not, but that doesn't mean it's not an emotional, expansive, "epic", and immersive adventure about saving the Galaxy. As we know now, it was also the peak of performance for BioWare, which hasn't graced us with anything comparable ever since the release of the ultimate part of the adventure.

Of course, the reedition itself also deserves a mention. However, it's more of a remaster than a full remake, like the recent Resident Evil 2 and 3, for example. The first part is the one that got the most changes, as it was the most outdated entry in the series, both in terms of setting and gameplay mechanics.
