The first Rogue Legacy had been released almost a decade ago, which in the gaming industry is eons. Fortunately, the developers seem to understand this, as they are not trying to make you spend money for a replay of the previous game - the second installment introduces some significant changes, bringing some fresh air to the new project.
The first thing that you'll notice is the original graphic style reminiscent of the first installment but seriously refreshed. Instead of the archaic audiovisuals from 2013 (boxy 2D pixel art graphics and old-school sound design), we receive a 2.5D perspective (with painted backgrounds and well-animated heroes and opponents) and modern sound layer. Further updates include new character classes, while the trademark mechanic of inheriting special traits between family members (if your current hero died) is once again in the game.
