Strongest and Bravest Female Video Game Characters

There is no shortage of female characters in games these days. Especially when it comes to leading roles, there's been a huge improvement in female representation. Some of them wield magic, some are children of destiny, but all are incredibly courageous.

Table of Contents

Sagani (Pillars of Eternity)

  1. Year of debut: 2015
  2. Key games: Pillars of Eternity
  3. Age when he does his bravest deeds: 57
  4. Voice actress: Cindy Robinson

In modern games, there's no longer a lack of strong female characters, particularly in leading roles. Still, the playable characters are rarely older people, and certainly not mothers. Sagani breaks this stereotype. The huntress from Pillars of Eternity contradicts at least a dozen genre clichés by her very existence.

The goal of her fight is not fame, applause, revenge or saving the world. She wants to find the soul of Persoq, a member of her village council of elders. In her tribe, women tend to hunt and men take care of the children. This was also the case with Sagani and her husband Kallu. They had five children together, but two of them died during the long, harsh winters in the tundra. Sagani wants to return to them after completing the mission. You cannot romance her, you cannot persuade her to leave her family and settle elsewhere (cruelty of such intentions aside).

Sagani is not very young, even by dwarven standards. She is 57 years old. However, she's also not that old. She's an adult woman, well-trained to track and hunt, sometimes very direct, and at the same time loyal and devoted to the cause. She doesn't have a beard, but her portrait doesn't show any features that might make her sexually attractive, as is often the case in similar role-playing games. She isn't ugly, has long hair and an athletic body. Ah, and by the way, during the events of the game, she turns out to be the one of the bravest dwarf in the history of pop culture.
