Uncharted 5, GTA 6 and Other Games We Want to Play on PS5

PlayStation 5 will be released in 2020, but we want to have a flight of fancy about the titles we'd like to play on the upcoming console. Here's our list of potential hits for Sony's machine.

Resident Evil 8

Ever since the series returned to spooking players, it achieved a certain catharsis.

Chances of a PS5 release: very high

Chances of a release on other platforms: high

After a few lean years, Resident Evil is back in full glory. The remake of Resident Evil 2 successfully brushed off the classic installment of the series, and introduced it to a new generation of players. Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, on the other hand, took the series in a new direction, successfully delivering horror atmosphere rather than pure action, while also taking quite bold move and switching the perspective to first-person.

At the moment, fans are expecting the recently announced – and causing mixed feelings – multi-player Project Resistance, some people were also talking about a remake of Resident Evil 3, the development of which was allegedly entrusted to some external studio by Capcom. But these are all side projects compared to Resident Evil 8, which is just a matter of time.

The only question is: what form will it take? More emphasis on action, as in Resident Evil 5 and 6 seems to be out of the question, as it wasn't really popular with gamers. This will either be a traditional survival horror (a TPP action game), similar to RE2 Remake, or a game more similar to REVII.

And since the remake of the "three" will likely be based on the former solution, I wouldn't say no to another FPP game, such as the "seven." The formula is still fresh and already proven, though there's certainly room for adjustments – the FPP RE8 should definitely come with a more refined combat system than the rigid systems known from the previous installments. Actually, it could easily have no combat at all – the best moments of Res Evil VII were those, in which we were unable to defend, and the only feasible strategy was fleeing.

We'd also like to play: Silent Hill

Everything seems to indicate that the world of the Silent Hill is already dead. The cult-classic survival horror, which was one of the first games to show that interactive horror can be more than "zombies popping out of the closet;" they can be a much more psychological experience, was binned by Konami after a few weaker installments, amidst the big conflict with Hideo Kojima. Hope dies last, however – the Japanese can always change their minds and give the green light for a new installment. The company could also entrust the franchise to another developer. Yes, when it comes to my favorite series, I'm a misguided optimist.
