Pigs are one of the main farm animals in Farming Simulator 25. This guide page contains information on how to raise pigs, where to keep them, what to feed pigs and what they can be used for.

Is it profitable to raise pigs?

Pigs are theoretically easy to maintain. In practice, however, they require some work (or additional money). You make money on pigs by selling adult individuals for meat. Additionally, they are also a good source of natural fertilizers. These animals have a high reproduction rate, so it is possible to earn quite a decent income by breeding them.

Types of farm houses

In the game you will find five different types of buildings where you can breed pigs. Pasture is not a very profitable form of farming because, given the high rate of reproduction, it will quickly fill up. Additionally, this place does not produce manure and slurry. The following buildings are available:

Types of pigs

There are 3 species available, which essentially differ from each other only in appearance. As with other species, you can get pigs of various ages: you can buy young, cheaper individuals or 6-months-old adult ones. The older ones are more expensive, but they will start reproducing immediately.

Feeding

If you care about maximum performance, you need to provide them with the best possible food. Pigs are actually omnivores and their food is divided into four groups:

  1. Basic feed (pig feed/corn/sorghum) - 50% efficiency;
  2. Grains (wheat/barley) - 25% efficiency;
  3. Proteins (soya/canola/sunflower) - 20% efficiency;
  4. Root crops (potatoes/sugar beets) - 5% efficiency.

A pig's diet must be diverse. To achieve very high efficiency, you must guarantee several types of food for the pigs.

If you care about maximum efficiency without having many crops, you can buy Pig Feed (available on pallets and in 1000l bags each) in the store. It provides 50% efficiency. However, you must be aware that this is a more expensive solution.

Breeding

Pigs reach maturity at the age of 6 months. When in full health and with all nutritional needs met, the next animals will be born every 4 months. However, you must bear in mind that pigs will reproduce only if they are healthy (their requirements for water and food are met).

The older the animal is, the higher its price is. So it is worth selling the oldest specimens, while keeping animals older than 6 months in the breeding.

Slurry and manure

Pigs produce slurry and optionally manure. For the first one, it is required to construct a special building and provide straw. Fertilizers, as you can guess, will allow you to increase the efficiency of your crops and will consequently increase your profits. However, you can sell its surplus at the biogas plant.
