Farming Simulator 25: Stone picking and soil rolling
Stone picking and soil rolling are optional steps to get rid of stones from the field if they occur. On this guide page, we describe when to remove stones and how descaling differs from rolling.
Last update:
Stone picking and soil rolling are optional activities that you don't always have to deal with. Their aim is to remove stones from the field by collecting them or pressing them into the ground. On this page of the guide you will learn when to remove stones and what the difference is between stone picking and soil rolling.
When to remove stones?
Stones can appear in the field after plowing or cultivating it with a regular cultivator. While they do not affect your crops, they do damage your vehicles and machinery when you ride over them. Stone picking and soil rolling are therefore only required occasionally, but it is recommended to do it - a positive impact on your vehicles is not the only benefit here.
What is the difference between stone picking and soil rolling?
Stone picking is performed with the help of a stone picker. This process is slower than soil rolling and works on both large and small stones. The collected stones can be transported to the stone crusher (if you can't find one on the map, you can build it on your farm - you'll find it in the factory menu, under the sale points tab), where you can sell them and earn some cash. Stone picking is recommended when there are larger stones in the field.
Soil rolling is done with rollers. It is faster, but it only works on small stones - it won't be able to get rid of larger stones. However, pressing small stones into the soil slightly increases yields in this field. Use soil rolling when there are only small stones in the field - picking them is not worth it because they are worth very little. The smallest stones will not damage seeders and planters - to get a yield bonus, do the soil rolling after sowing/planting.
