A third-person action game developed by IO Interactive - creators of the popular Hitman series. 007 First Light allows us to play as young James Bond and take part in his earliest adventures. The game is full of shootouts and car chases. We can also act quietly and rely on Bond's various gadgets.
007: First Light (which was developed under the code name Project 007) is an action game developed by the Danish studio IO Interactive, which has the best-selling Hitman series in its portfolio. The team took care of both creating and publishing this title. Although the game is based on an official license, it is not associated with any of the movies about agent 007.
In 007: First Light we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The adventure leads us through various locations as part of the story campaign. Individual missions can be repeated, activating various modifiers that affect the gameplay.
Many of the visited places have a semi-open structure. When we get to them, the game allows us to decide how we approach achieving our goals, offering many paths. Discrete actions are often the best ones. We solve a kind of environmental puzzles, gathering information (e.g. by eavesdropping on conversations or participating in them; we can choose the character's statements within the dialogue system), collecting items and using disguises to gain access to restricted places - similar to the Hitman series.
Bond often has to resort to stealth, avoiding being discovered by the guards. We can hide in dense vegetation, climb up gutters, or squeeze along walls on ledges at height. The characteristic gadgets of agent 007 help to distract guards or incapacitate them, and when everything else fails, the hero can wriggle out of a tricky situation by bluffing.
In addition to the sequences described above, 007: First Light is full of spectacular action scenes, often scripted. For example, we can participate in spectacular car chases, which are an opportunity to use iconic cars from brands like Aston Martin and Jaguar. The script is full of moments that force agent 007 to show off his stunt skills.
There is also no shortage of combat in the convention typical for third-person shooters. We eliminate the enemy's prevailing forces, conducting fire exchanges from behind covers using various pistols, rifles, and shotguns. An interactive environment helps to gain an advantage. For example, exploding barrels and heavy chandeliers can be knocked down even with a laser in Bond's watch.
When we shorten the distance to the enemy, we can engage in a fist fight, delivering a wide range of punches, counters and "finishers". It also possible to quietly get rid of opponents before we alert them. We often have a choice of methods of action - in a stealthy or shooter style.
007: First Light allows us to see the beginning of the career of Her Majesty's most famous spy. James Bond is presented here as a naval aviator, who despite his young age, has heroic deeds to his credit.
That's exactly why he was recruited into the MI6 after the 00 program was reactivated. The protagonist is assigned the task of stopping a rogue agent. However, the mission ends in tragedy, and the protagonist and his mentor must join forces to jointly stop a conspiracy that could shake the foundations of the entire United Kingdom.

Players who pre-ordered 007: First Light received a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, along with a 24 hour early access, 4 outfits for the hero and a skin pack.
In addition, a Legacy collector's edition was prepared, containing a steelbook, a replica of a golden gun, a unique outfit and a weapon skin.

007: First Light is a brilliant example of the potential that still exists in well-made single-player action games. Not a single cent of the considerable budget has been wasted – we’ve been treated to a superb, immersive spectacle that blurs the line between engaging gameplay and an interactive film. The somewhat drawn-out ending or a few simplified mechanics do nothing to spoil the overall impression, as it’s been a long time since I played a game where individual scenes and moments stuck so firmly in my memory.
